What Baptists Believe
About Justification
Prayer: An offering of thanks to the Triune God for salvation in Christ.

V. OF JUSTIFICATION
We believe that the great gospel blessing which Christ (1) secures to such
as believe in him is justification; (2) that justification includes the
pardon of sin, (3) and the promise of eternal life on principles of
righteousness; (4) that it is bestowed, not in consideration of any works
of righteousness which we have done, but solely through faith in the
Redeemer's blood; (5) by virtue of which faith his perfect righteousness
is freely imputed to us of God; (6) that it brings us into a state of most
blessed peace and favor with God, and secures every other blessing needful
for time and eternity!(7)

Discussion by Leader:
1. Why we need to understand terms used in the Bible.
2. Many terms in theology are not clearly understood today because people
neglect such a study.
3. The danger of not understanding Bible terms. Being lost through a
failure to understand terms such as grace, repentance, faith,
justification, and putting the wrong meaning, fostered by false teachers,
into the words.

Parts for Assignment:
1. All that God has for us has been secured for us through Christ.
2. All that believe in Christ are justified.
3. Justification includes pardon
4. Justification includes eternal life.
5. Justification is ours, not on a works basis, but on a faith basis.
6. Perfect righteousness imparted unto us by God through Christ.
7. Justification brings us peace and favor with God and all things
necessary for time and eternity.

Discussion Questions:
1. Is justification an act of God or of man?
2. Does salvation include any of man's works or is it all of God?
3. How can God forgive the sinner and yet uphold the Majesty of His love?
4. How many sins of the believer were paid for by Christ on the Cross?
Past? Present? Future?
5. If Christ died for all our sins, how can we be separated from God after
being once saved?
6. Can you think of anything needed by a sinner or a Christian that Christ
cannot or will not supply?
