What Baptists Believe About The Way of Salvation

Prayer: That each one of us may have a burden for the salvation of others.

IV. OF THE WAY OF SALVATION

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace;(1) through the Mediatorial offices of the Son of God;(2) who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon him our nature, yet without sin;(3) honored the divine law by his personal obedience,(4) and by his death made a full atonement for our sins;(5) that having risen from the dead, he is now enthroned in heaven;(6) and uniting in his wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfections, he is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate, and an all-sufficient Saviour!(7)

Discussion by Leader:

1. The salvation of the Bible is an eternal salvation.

2. Why once saved always saved?

3. If a person believes that he can fall from grace and so fall as to be eternally lost, has that person ever been truly saved? Is he trusting Christ or self?

Parts for Assignment:

1. Salvation wholly by Grace.

2. Salvation through Christ.

3. Christ became man, yet without a sin nature.

4. Christ kept the law that all men have broken.

5. By death, Christ paid the debt for all our sins.

6. Christ, having died, was raised from the dead, and now is enthroned in Heaven.

7. Christ, in every way, a qualified Saviour.

Discussion Questions:

1. What do we mean by salvation?

2. What is grace?

3. What do we mean when we say that Christ was "without sin"

4. How did Christ die on the cross? In spirit? In body? or both?

5. What is spiritual death?

6. What happened to the body of Christ?

7. Does it make any difference to us today what happened to the body?
