THE PRAYER OF A CHILD

WELL HERE I AM AGAIN DEAR GOD,
- 'COULDN'T WAIT ANOTHER DAY

IT'S 'BOUT MY MOMMY AND DADDY
'GOT LOTS TO TALK ABOUT TODAY.

THEY DON'T GO TO CHURCH WITH ME -
AND IT MAKES MY HEART GET BROKE....

MY DADDY YELLED AT ME AGAIN,
WHEN ABOUT YOUR SON I SPOKE.

THEN I SAW MOMMY CRY AGAIN
SO I GAVE HER HUGS AND KISSIN'

I FIGURED OUT THE REASON WHY -
IT'S MY JESUS THAT THEY'RE MISSIN'

DEAR GOD, I TRIED REAL HARD TODAY -
EVEN TOLD THEM A BIBLE VERSE

BUT A SONG I SANG FROM SUNDAY SCHOOL
JUST MADE MY DADDY CURSE.

GOD, IF I PROMISE TO BE GOOD
COULD YOU SEND MY SAVIOUR 'ROUND ?

I LOVE 'EM BOTH A BUNCH YOU SEE,
SO I TOLD 'EM 'BOUT SALVATION I FOUND.

I KNOW THAT YOU CAN HEAR ME,
YOU KNOW I'VE NEVER BEGGED BEFORE...

CAN JESUS COME AND TALK TO THEM ?
THEY DON'T LISTEN TO ME NO MORE.

HERE I AM AGAIN - IT'S ME !
SOMETHING WONDERFUL OCCURRED !

OH I'M SO GLAD WE HAD OUR TALKS,
I JUST KNEW MY PRAYERS GOT HEARD !

MOMMY AND DADDY CAME TO CHURCH -
AFTER ALL MY BEGGIN' "PLEASE"

AND BEFORE THE DAY WAS EVEN DONE
THEY BOTH GOT ON THEIR KNEES !

MY DADDY READS THE BIBLE NOW....
JUST EVER' SINGLE NIGHT !

YOU OUGHT'A SEE THE WAY THEY SMILE -
JESUS FIXED THEIR HEARTS JUST RIGHT !

AND MOMMY, SHE DON'T CRY NO MORE
JESUS MADE HER HEART BRAND NEW !

SHE SAYS I AM A GOOD LITTLE BOY
AND SHE'S THANKFUL FOR ME TOO.

DON'T WORRY GOD, 'COZ I'LL BE BACK
AND I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER !

EVER' NIGHT 'FORE I GO TO SLEEP
WE'LL HAVE LOTS OF TALKS TOGETHER.

OH, AND...... I HAVE A BIG SURPRISE !
IT'S FOR YOU, BEFORE I GO

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS,
DADDY SAID I COULD LET YOU KNOW....

THERE'S GONNA BE TWO MORE PRAYING NOW -
AND GOD, GUESS WHO ?

IT'S MOMMY AND DADDY -
'COZ THEY PROMISED ME
THEY'LL BE TALKING LOTS TO YOU !
