The Appaloosa Saga continues
Down Memory Lane! Page 5

It isn't all fun and games. There is a lot of hard work
that goes into showing your horse and creating a champion... Besides
feeding and grooming there is training and let's not forget the most fun
part of cleaning the stalls.
Picture #1
That is Jimmy On Little Mare racing towards the finish line. At the
Appaloosa shows we raced against other horses in stead of the clock which,
in my opinion, made it much more exciting. In this picture however you may
not see the other horse because as best as I can remember he is still
going around barrel #3. LOL
Picture #2 That was our old wagon that sat down by the road advertising
the Bar-K- Ranch.
Picture #3 That is Jimmy rounding the barrel and riding on Little Mare.
Picture #4 This time it is Eric riding Joker around the barrel.
Picture #5 The hard work is paying off as Jimmy and Little Mare take home
1st Place. Jimmy took 1st place not only in barrels but 1st place in poles
and the western riding class. And this was not just this show but every
show all year long... He was in the 10 to 13 year old class..
Picture #6 Eric at the age of 9 is learning the rewards of all the work he
put into training Joker as they pick up 1st Place. When Eric had gotten
Joker, she was a rack of bones and it was up to him to fatten her up and
get her into show shape by the next show season... Eric was in the 9yr.
old and under class....

THIS IS A SHORT STORY ABOUT ERIC.
At age 9, my son, Eric, was a grand stander. He took
1st Place in poles and barrels at every show all year long in the walk and
trot 9 and under class. But after each class, and after he had ridden to
the grand stand box and received his trophy, he would ride to where ever
his mother was sitting and tip that over sized bull riding hat, that he
wore, off to her. He would then spin ole Joker around and gallop out of
the arena as everyone cheered him on and as the year wore on all the folks
got to waiting to see Eric tip that big ole hat to his momma. But you
know? It sure made his momma proud of her baby boy.....
