The Donkey Knew
Greetings in the precious name of Jesus,
I do so pray that the message today will touch your hearts and be a blessing for you. I would also ask that you pray for this ministry, that Our Lord will use it to encourage folks, help the lost to find Jesus as their personal Saviour, and to be a blessing to the child of God. Thank you for those prayers.
My, Oh My, What a beautiful day it is outside to be serving Our Lord and Saviour, JesusÖ Iíve got a lot of scripture for you today and so weíre going to jump right into our message and if we have a little bit of time left Iíll sing you off the air. I wish to thank all of you, in my email little flock, who are listening today as well as all the nice folks At Lesís Country Side of the Cove, WRMI Radio and those at WEKT Radio with Gibb Sunn as Radioman, who have stopped by to listen today.
I only wish I could see your smiling faces.
Our text comes from: Luke 19: 30, 41 but Iíd like to share these verses first if I may, to help us better understand our text today. If you have your KJV Bibles Iíll ask that you read along with meÖ
Luke 18: 31-34
as we find that Christ foreshows his death.
The Spirit of Christ, in the Old Testament prophets, testified beforehand his sufferings, and the glory that should follow, (1st Peter 1:11; Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.) But The disciples' prejudices were so strong, that they would not understand these things literally. They were so intent upon the prophecies which spoke of Christ's glory, that they overlooked those which spoke of his sufferings. People run into mistakes, because they read their Bibles by halves, and are only for the smooth things. We are as backward, in which to learn the proper lessons from the sufferings, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ, as the disciples were to what he told them as to those events; and for the same reason; self-love, and a desire of worldly objects and things, close our understandings.
And so we understand that these followers of Christ Ďheardí what was about to happen when they go into Jerusalem but these things were hid from them and they simply couldnít grasp them or cope with them.
At this point they didnít truly realize who Jesus was completely or His entire mission here but the donkey sure knew who Jesus was.
Letís read and see if I can point this out a little better. After all this isnít the first time a donkey or an ass was used of God.
Luke 19: 30, 41
Looking back to verse 30 we found these words: ďwhereon yet never man satĒ Now weíve had horses here at the Bar-K-Ranch since 1973 and still have 7 out in the fields. Iíve personally raised horses from babies, have broken them to halter, broken them to saddle and be ridden, trained them to perform different duties. Iíve raised, trained, and shown horses at the registered Appaloosa horse shows and have had Van go to the Nationals in Oklahoma. Altogether, weíve had 8 Kentucky State Champions come from the Bar-K-Ranch. And so after 39 years of working with horses you can believe me when I tell you the first time something or someone swings a leg over or sits on an unbroken horse, heís gonna experience some jumping or bucking. After he gets to know and trust that youíre not going to hurt him only then does he calm down.
Jesus mounts and sits on, how is that put? ďYet Never Man SatĒ and rides this donkey thru the streets of howling and cheering people, clothes, and palm leaves being thrown down in front of him. Folks, Iíve ridden well broke horses for the first time in a parade and they most times, hearing the bands play, cheering, with new things happening around them, well, they are skittish, would turn sideways, jump a little or something.
Yet, this donkey never jumped or bucked. Why is that? Iíll tell you why! That unbroken donkey KNEW, yes, KNEW God had chosen him to ride. This donkey KNEW he had the son of God upon his back and he was careful to deliver Jesus to His destination without his causing mishap. Yes, I believe that donkey KNEW.
Itís so sad today that so many donít know the Son of God. Just as that cheering mob will shortly be crying out, Crucify Him, Crucify Him, yes, an excited mob wanting to see Him hanging upon the cross, His precious and sinless blood spilling down the cross and pooling upon the ground until it is all gone and Jesus cries out; ďIt IS FinishedĒ and gives up the ghost.
People didnít know Jesus then and people donít know Jesus in this day and time but that donkey sure did know. And as we read that some of religious crowd, the Pharisees, ask that Jesus rebuke His disciples and quiet them down. But what did Jesus tell them? If these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Yes even the stones and rocks know who Jesus is and would cry outÖ
Listen folks, why is it that people wonít recognize and admit to the fact that there is a God who created all things. And this same God sent His precious Son to die for you. As sinful and miserable as we all are, Jesus allowed people to hang Him of a tree so that we might have eternal life in Heaven with Him. Oh, what love. And if Jesus hadnít ridden that donkey, who KNEW Him, into Jerusalem that day and fulfilled all the scriptures by giving His very life and then raising from the grave, alive and full of Glory to return to Heaven sitting on the Fatherís right side, YOU AND I WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TOÖ AND HELL WOULD BE OUR FINAL DESTINATION.
Listen folks, Please, Please, Please put your trust in Jesus today. Repent of your sins, and in faith acknowledge His sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection and then ask Jesus to come into your heart and save your soul. Donít be dumber than the donkey that knew God when he saw Him,
Why not get your life right with God today? Youíll be eternally glad that you didÖ
Well folks, The time seems to slip
away so fast so let me say;
May the angels watch over you this next week and may Our Heavenly Father fill your hearts in His love and give you the victory in Jesus.
Have a great week & May God Bless
