Because He Lives (51)
May 2, 2012

"Life is but a little pathway,
God has planned for you and me,
And He walks the way before us,
Oft our path you cannot see."

Greetings in the precious name of Jesus as we WELCOME you to the Reaching the World with Jesus - radio program. Well Glory!

Today Iíd like to speak concerning this thought. BECAUSE HE LIVES;
Time permitting, Iíll sing this song at the conclusion of this message.

In the song, Because He Lives, it is speaking of the RISEN SAVIOUR. How little; folks reflect upon this ingredient and aspect of Godís Holy word. Sometimes we read but over look the true meaning found in our Bibles donít we? And unless the Holy Spirit opens our eyes we miss the punch lineÖ For our Bible speaks of and concerning the Risen Saviour all thru it.

IF, This morning, you have your KJV Bibles handy, Iíll ask that you read your Bible along with me. And there is something about reading Godís Holy Word which stirs the Holy Spirit within us to better understand what God is saying to us today.

And so if you will; turn in your Bibles to: John 10:14,18
While youíre turning;
Lord I pray this morning that you will use this message for the hour; to bless and encourage Your children and help us see that great need of telling the lost of Our Risen Saviour. Give us courage to witness to them so that they may hear of His saving power and marvelous grace. Amen

In our Text we find these words:

John 10: 14, 18

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

 Yes you and I can plainly see here from our scripture text that Jesus is the shepherd; for He has laid down His life for His sheep but, most importantly, He took His life back up again and is alive today and forevermore.

This resurrection of Christ is not only important but fundamental to the lost but even more so to the believers and Christians. You see, Jesus knew that he was going to have to suffer the pangs of death but more importantly; Jesus knew that he would be raised from the dead to live forevermore. But this sacrificial lamb of God, giving His very life for the sins of the world; takes it again and arose alive to prove who He was. And this plan of salvations was ever on His mind from the very beginning.  And Jesus repeatedly foretold of His resurrection before it was to happen.

Matthew 20: 18, 19

18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,

19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Yes, Jesus and the Father knew the whole curriculum before the world began. On the mount of transfiguration Jesus told His disciples,

In Mathew 17: 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

The rising from the dead was in His mind all the time as the great finale and triumph of His crucifixion. More examples of His mindset concerning His resurrection are found in;

Luke 9: 22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

John 10: 17, 18  And this was the plan of Jesus;

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

And how important was the resurrection to the apostles and early preachers. Evidently, The resurrection was at the top of their list for they spoke of it every time they proclaimed God's word.

Acts 1: 21, 22   and in the words of the apostle, Peter;

21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

These apostles who were witnesses of His death and resurrection, now preach the resurrection and were with Jesus, after the resurrection, they walked with him after the resurrection, they handled Him after the resurrection. even doubting Thomas touched the nail prints of His hand and His side which had been pierced by the Roman's spear.

And in Psalms 2; 24, 32 are 13 verses Peter gives concerning the resurrection and uses King David's foreknowledge of the resurrection which came from Psalms 16: 8, 11 and in verse 30 of Peter's sermon, he is using the scripture of Psalms 132: 11 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

And in Acts 3: 14, 15  Peter preaching in the temple says;

14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

AND Acts 3: 26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

And the Apostles often, were arrested; and just what was the doctrine which they used to distress those whom they stood before?  They used the Resurrection!

Acts 4: 1, 2

1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

And when Peter and John were called before the leaders of the Jews; they were asked; By what power, by what name have you done this: that is; the healing of the lame man in the temple.

 in verse 10; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

The apostles they were great witnesses and they had power and told of the resurrection everywhere they went. In jail, out of jail before magistrates or anyone else in authority they stood before. We find in Acts 5: 29, 30 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

And we find in Paulís preaching that he also refers to the resurrection. In fact Paul based all of his theology upon the fact that Christ was risen from the dead. On his first journey with Barnabas Paul preaches and quotes some of the Psalms we find in:

Acts 13: 29 30

29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.
30 But God raised him from the dead:

More of Paulís preaching concerning the resurrection. When he goes to Athens is found in Acts 17: 18

Yes, Paul preached the resurrection of the Saviour everywhere he went and even spoke of his hearing and seeing Jesus during his conversion on the road to Damascus. He was struck down in mid-day and head the voice and I believe Paul saw Jesus and His glory that day, so overwhelming and brilliant was the sight of the resurrected Jesus, that Paul was struck blind. And that is why Paul stated that he born out of due time.

 1 Corinthians 15: 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time

It was the same for John on the Isle of Patmos as John fell at His feet as one dead; in Revelations 1: 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

And we could go on and on concerning this resurrection which Paul and the apostles and early preachers proclaimed and still needs to be preached today. This same resurrection which Christ foreknew in the plans from the beginning; Even as in the foreshadow of Job, when he was in the belly of the whale - [[laugh]] Come of folks, it was Jonah in the whale's belly for three days and nights. Stay with me now. These three days and nights were a picture of Christ and His saving power of the resurrection...

Listen folks, If the Resurrection isn't important and of the highest essence and fundamental nature of our salvation, then our faith and religion is in vain and we might as well throw our Bibles away or store them with the Charles Dickens story books or some old history books. We just read them and say they are only good books and then set them aside.

If and I'm saying IF the resurrection didn't happen then you and I are in some really huge and horrific troubles and are going to spend all of eternity in that lake of fire we call; HELL. God Forbid!

I pray this message today has shown some light upon how we should reflect upon the resurrection. For Christ, who is most definitely alive today sure was thinking upon His sacrificial death and risen triumphant power over the grave, from the very beginning; And - Because He Lives, Yes, BECAUSE HE LIVES; You and I have this opportunity, because of our faith and belief in His gospel; WILL live forever with our risen Saviour in Heaven. WELL GLORY!

Well I pray you have been blessed by this message and I hope that you will enjoy my singing this song.

And so until we meet this same time next Wednesday morning;

May the angels watch over you this next week and may Our Heavenly Father fill your hearts in His love and Because He Lives, give you that victory in Jesus; Well Glory
