Welcome

To The

'49' Chevy Dump Truck

Going Down the Road Page

Greetings to all You Oldies Car Lovers,

It isn't required that you be an 'oldie person' to enjoy these great vehicles of the past but it might just help a little...  *Smile*  I hope that you all have your speakers on because it wouldn't be and oldie's page without some great music to go with it. I just thought 16 Candles might work for this page. Well I first bought this '49' Chevy back in 1991 and painted it that year. I drove it about 80 miles home and it has never let me down... Yea, it uses some oil and when hauling hay or gravel or mulch for the wife it smokes a little when you get it in a strain but not to bad for 59 year old. After all, I'm 63 and I smoke a little myself. LOL  Anyway here are the changes thru the last 17 years I've owned this great old Chevy.  It was transformed from this:

To This in 1991

Well now, that is much better and has lasted a long time but I've always wanted to do an oldie in flames paint. Just never managed to follow thru for some reason or other... But now I can say the this ole' man has finally seen a wish come true. And here is how the old gal looks today. I still want to put some pin stripes on the grill, tool box which has flames, and the bed. And I think a little red or orange around the wheels might set it off just right. Nothing big, just enough to break up all that solid black. Anyway here is what she looks like today. It's supposed to snow later today and I've gotten so excited that I had to take the pictures and put them on here for you all. Yea, the  little kid in me just pops out sometimes...  *smile*

Here we are backing the old gal out of the shed.

I know, I know, ya can't tell much from this pix but I'll get better, I promise. LOL

And you all thought I was driving didn't ya? Well I fooled ya once more. For as you can plainly see my pooch, Panda Bear, is in the drivers seat. LOL  And did ya notice those flames on the tool box?  Want to see some more?  Well ya talked me into it.

Yea, thought I'd zoom in a little on this pix. Got that Chrome emblem off of eBay. Nothing like a little piece of shinny chrome to set off those flames.

Maybe we need to get a little bit closer look at that interior work which Joe Powell did for me on this little truck... Ya, It's just too cool... *Smile*

Flames in the door panels and the head liner and check out those red and black stripped seats. Here is a closer look at the headliner.

Man, talk about knocking your socks off. LOL

What do ya think of the old gal now? Snazzy Huh? And if you look at the black paint, you'll see yours truly twice in the reflection. Talk about a double exposure and workout for the camera. LOL

Hmmm, It looks like I'm gonna have to wash the mud off of the tires and give the ole gal a bath. It was raining and spittin snow the night I brought her home and Joe's Garage is about a mile off the black top on a gravel and mud road. I'm glad the dusty and rain drop marks aren't showing in these pictures. Yea, the little truck is dirty already. That's the one bad thing about a black vehicle. Shows everything. LOL

Just another shot of the front end. There are tiny flames on the bumper and on the mirrors too. Kinda hard to see in these pictures. No one can say now that this ole boy isn't 'old school'... *smile*

Well I hope that you've enjoyed looking at my old Chevy as much as I have being able and getting to show it to you all. Thank you so much for stopping in to visit with me... It's been my pleasure having you and I hope that you'll look at some of the other pages and sections of my site.  So you have a wonderful day and as they say here in the south;

Yawl Come Back Now, Ya Hear?
