Note:
This little '49' Chevy Dump truck has been redone, in flames, and the link to
the finished, 'Going Down the Road' pictures are at the bottom of this page.
Make sure and turn up your speakers.... *smile*
And Now for the transformation which was done in 1991.
I've owned this grand ole truck
since 1991 and drove it home. I've been hauling rock and mulch for the wife's
flower garden ever since. It has never failed to start right up even after
letting it set for a month or two and has always gotten me home. More than I can
say about some of the newer vehicles I've owned... I repainted it the summer I
bought it in '91' and below the before and after fix and painting pictures I'll
put a couple of pictures of this spring when I hauled and dumped the mulch in
the drive... The ole girl uses some oil and needs a wheel cylinder brake kit on
the right rear. I've been procrastinating on fixing it and have been just adding
brake fluid for the last several years... May have to pump the brakes a time or
two but then it is ok till the next time we get ready to go down the road.
Yea, ole fogies can do that... (smile)
This is the way she looked when I bought her.

Well we couldn't have her looking like that could we? So out came the sand blaster and started making some major changes.

Yes sir a little elbow grease and some DA work and she started looking better. Had to add some Fiberglass and Bondo filler to a few places to smooth her edges. And then began working the spray gun magic. And yea we put some old paneling on the doors and painted the interior to match the outside. By the way The green wasn't my first choice but Ernie, a good friend who lived in Ashland Ky. gave me that paint he had saved to do his station wagon with.
But right after he got the paint he wrecked the car and didn't need it. I live on the western end of the state and worked as a construction Boilermaker welder and Local '40' would send me to Ashland Oil almost every year to work at the refinery, Armco Steel, or the Dupont Chemical plant. Sometimes we had to work at Louisa Electrical Power Plant but anyway Ernie was in charge of the trailer park and that is where I would park my camper for the 6 week outages... So that is how Ole Ernie and I became friends. Ernie's picture is on the missionary page of the I'm Heaven Bound site in the bottom picture... Yea I'm a sorta long winded preacher... LOL
Ok back to this ole treasure of a truck...

Yo' she's lookin a whole lot better isn't she?

You know? I sure would like to do that painting again. You know that a deep candy apple red would look great or even maybe a royal blue with powder blue trimmings...
But I'm dreaming again. I kept her in a shed until about four years ago when a tractor somehow managed to get priority and the paint is starting to show the weather. These next two pictures were taken this last spring after I hauled two loads of mulch and dumped them in the driveway for my wife Connie girl to put on her flower gardens. Did you happen to notice the 'S' on gardens? Yea, the ole Bar-K-Ranch becomes or perhaps I should say transforms into a jungle during the summer but don't tell Connie girl I told you all that on here, OK? LOL
Well before I get myself in more trouble that I can outrun here are this last springs Pictures.

Yea, I told you the ole girl didn't look to bad and if you look real hard you'll see that the truck bed is in the up position. Yes sir, still works like a charm... And did I mention that all the lights work? Even the inside dome light and the parking lights work and the heater will flat out run you out. I did have to add the new turn signals though and they work... Yea I got tired of having to stick my arm out the window to give a hand signal when I was going to turn...
And it didn't really matter anyhow because as my luck would have it, there would be a blond woman following behind me and would just pass me when I slowed down to turn. I guess they thought I had my hand stuck out the window to see if it was snowing or something... LOL or maybe they just thought I was waving at them and being friendly... But the one thing I know if you see a woman following when you slow down don't give a hand signal and just turn because as sure as you do that female will be right beside you, just a blowing her horn, and giving a little hand signal of her own... And it's probably a good thing you can't hear what's being said... So now you know the rest of the story of why I put the turn signals on there...

Well it looks like the cat is plum tuckered out and my pooch, Panda Bear is being her nosey self so I guess I'll close this page out now... Oh yea, the price... Well I'm going to ask;
$4500.00
But I'll entertain any offers... Oh yea I have the owners manual and an extra set of wheels.
