Him. Well Glory!

say a little prayer asking God to continue using this ministry in
‘Reaching the World with Jesus’. And I do thank you for those
Today I have a sweet story I’d like to share with you.
I have seen this story before but it one of those which truly
touches a person’s heart every time it’s read, especially as we
relate to the significant part it should play in our individual
lives as born again Christians. Just as it does in the newly saved
boy in our story… It puts one on shouting grounds or at least it
should. Well Glory!
Our story is about a nine-year-old boy who lived in a rural town in
Tennessee. His house was in a poor area of the community. A church
there had a bus ministry that came knocking on his door one Saturday
afternoon. The boy came to answer the door and greeted the bus
The bus pastor asked if his parents were home and the small boy told
him that his parents take off every weekend and leave him at home to
take care of his little brother. The bus pastor couldn't believe
what this child had said and asked him to repeat it. The youngster
gave the same answer, and the bus pastor asked if he could come in
and talk with him.
They went into the living room and sat down on an old couch with the
foam and springs exposed. The bus pastor asked the boy, "Where do
you go to church?"
The young boy – surprised - his visitor by replying, "I've never
been to church in my whole life." The bus pastor thought to himself
about the fact that his church was less than three miles from the
"Are you sure you have never been to church?" he asked again.
"I'm sure I haven't," came his answer.
Then the bus pastor said, "Well, son, more importantly than going to
church, have you ever heard the greatest love story ever told?" I
don’t know, came the reply. Then he proceeded to share the Gospel
with this little nine-year-old boy. The young lad's heart began to
be tenderized – and at the end of the bus pastor's story, he asked
if the boy wanted to receive this free gift of salvation from God
and become His child.. The youngster exclaimed, "Oh yes, Please –
Yes - I want Jesus in my heart"
So the bus pastor and this boy got on their knees and the lad
invited Jesus into his little heart and received the free gift of
salvation. They both stood up and the bus pastor asked if he could
pick him and his little brother up for church the next morning.
"Sure," the nine-year-old replied.
Well next morning the bus pastor got to the house early and found
the lights off. He let himself in called out but no answer. So he
looks around until he found the boys still asleep. He woke up the
little boy and his brother and helped get them dressed. They got on
the bus and the driver gave them a donut he brought for the children
and they ate them for breakfast on their way to church.
Keep in mind that this boy had never been to church before. The
church was a real big one. The two children just sat there, clueless
of what was going on. A few minutes into the service, these tall,
stern looking men, walked down to the front of the church and picked
up some wooden plates. One of the men prayed and the boy, with utter
fascination, watched them walk up and down the aisles. He still
didn't know what was going on.
All of a sudden, like a bolt of lightning, it hit the boy as to what
was taking place. These people must be giving money to Jesus. He
then reflected on the love story and the free gift of salvation he
had received just yesterday…
He immediately searched his pockets, front and back, and couldn't
find a thing to give Jesus. By this time the offering plate was
being passed down his aisle. With a broken heart, he just grabbed
the plate and held on to it. He finally let go and watched it pass
on down the aisle.
He turned around to see it passed down the aisle behind him. And
then his eyes remained glued on the plate as it was passed back and
forth, - back and forth, - all the way to the rear of the sanctuary.
Then he had an idea. This little-nine-year old boy, in front of God
and everybody, got up out of his seat. He walked about eight rows
back, grabbed the usher by the coat and asked to hold the plate one
Then he did the most astounding thing I’ve ever heard of. He took
the plate, sat it on the carpeted church floor, and stepped into the
center of it. As he stood there in the wooden offering plate, he
lifted his little head up and said, "Jesus, I don't have anything to
give you today, but just me. And so with tears running down his
cheeks he said; Jesus, I give you me!"
What a touching story. I don’t know about you, but when I hear that
story it brings a tear to my eye.
Well today, I’d like to take our text from:
Romans 12: 1, 3 If you have your Bibles
handy today I hope that you’ll take them and read the word of God
along with me.
Romans 12: 1, 3
1 I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is
among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every
man the measure of faith.
OK, When is the last time you said to Jesus,- Lord, I am nothing
without you, I have nothing to give which isn’t yours already, and
so Lord, I give you me?
You Know? I’m afraid that with the wealth here in America and the
greed which has taken precedence over everything and almost every
one whether rich or poor, many have placed their hope in money;
maybe it’s, winning the lottery, or what might be bought with if I
had a pay raise on the job, or even a pension. And that goes from
our leaders, politicians, Lawyers, Doctors, working man, and right
on down to the welfare basket cases. It boils down to, what can I
get or be given?
Not what I can give - but - what I can get.
How many times have you heard; Look at MY big new fancy home, or
look at MY new car or even MY new boat, motorcycle, airplane,
clothes, business, the land I own, or whatever. It’s all about ME or
MY, isn’t it? Even for those of us who are struggling along, we look
at the, ME and MY of life don’t we? OH, many give to a church or
even some charity or perhaps TV or online ministry but not as a
sacrifice but some little leftover amount which we feel we can do
without comfortably… But how many, myself included, have truly given
our time, our money, or even our bodies a living sacrifice to God?
Holy and acceptable unto God…
I guess in most cases, you and I have conformed to this world,
haven’t we? We want as much if not more than our neighbors and greed
has become prevalent in our every day life. But as Paul stated now
is the time of renewal, yea, renewal of the mind. A transformation,
if you will, to that of the mind of God, for in so doing we are able
to PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of
Listen folks; God doesn’t want the leftovers from His children but
He does want dedicated children who are willing to give everything
to Him including their very lives if need be. It is easy, as the
little boy in our story who had nothing else to give and stated:
“Lord, I give you me.” But in reality, the more we have the more we
grab for and hoard… Is this the case in your life? Think about it.
If it is, then let’s do something about it, OK?
Let’s renew our minds into giving more to God; whether it be of our
time, or money, or perhaps more importantly, winning lost souls for
the glory of the Kingdom. The next time God passes by with the
offering plate of dedication, let’s, by faith, jump into the middle
of it and say; Lord, I Give You Me. Do with me as You will. I am
Yours, wholly and completely.
Lord, I Give You Me…
Well little flock, I pray that today’s message has perhaps, in some
small way, inspired you into taking action and steps of faith to the
renewing of your minds and to giving your all to God… And most of
all I wish to thank and praise the Holy name of Jesus, because Jesus
gave His all on that Old Rugged Cross so that you and I might have
salvations plan and opportunity to even be able to say by faith;
Lord, I give You me…
Well Glory, I pray that you’ve enjoyed today’s message and I do so
look forward to having you come again next - Wednesday morning - and
together we’ll praise, honor, and worship Our Heavenly Father and
His Son, Our precious Saviour, Jesus.
Also today if you’ve been listening and have never made that
decision to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour and
become a child of God - or - you’re not sure where you stand
concerning your salvation:
